Built for the world beyond the field.

From a rough script to an outdoor watch campaign—with the planning, practical effects, and flexibility to carry it through.

Praesidus Ranger

A broader audience. Clear reasons to choose the Ranger.

Praesidus wanted to expand beyond its narrow audience of military-history enthusiasts and watch collectors to reach adventure-focused adult men. The team brought a lookbook, a rough script, and advertising references that included G-Shock.

Our first question was what would give someone a reason to choose the Ranger over an established alternative at a similar price. Working with Kate within the existing creative direction, we reviewed the watch’s features and styling alongside competing products. The aim was to sharpen the brief and focus the film on benefits the intended audience would recognize: vintage-inspired design, rugged functionality, and a restrained digital display that kept the analog face visually prominent.

Connect each product benefit to a filming decision.

Praesidus established the direction; we worked with the team on script refinement and developed the final visual approach, shots, and shot list. Nighttime visibility became an important part of the creative execution, alongside water resistance.

The original swimming sequence required more resources than the schedule and budget allowed. We helped pivot to backpacking and nighttime rain, retaining the outdoor energy while creating an opportunity to show both water resistance and illumination.

We led pre-production: location scouting, daily scheduling and breakdowns, crew hiring, paperwork, crew rights and payment documentation, and the logistics needed to execute the shoot. Kate helped with casting and some preparation as we worked together to make the available budget go further.

Make the difficult shots possible—and keep the film consistent.

The two-day schedule required fitting a substantial night sequence into the busiest shoot day. There was no nearby water source, so our long-standing art-department collaborators brought a mobile rain rig previously custom-built for another Occulus production, 10-gallon water barrels, and a portable pumping setup. Battery generators supplied power in the woods. Careful backlighting made the rain visible on camera, drawing on our experience with practical effects.

Clouds on day two threatened the sunny, warm look established in earlier footage. With lighting and crew prepared to adapt, we recreated the direction and warmth of sunlight on the subject and product to maintain continuity.

The art department also helped tailor practical dust, debris, and mud effects on location. Back at our studio, we filmed additional water, dust, dirt, and mud against backlit glass, creating custom elements to composite over the footage. AI tools were used selectively for a sky replacement and steam rising from the mug. In-studio product shots gave the film a final, focused showcase of the watch.

Our team handled post-production from beginning to end: editing, color, sound design, visual effects, and music selection. Initial feedback rounds happened internally so Praesidus received a developed cut as the starting point for its review.

One strategy. Multiple ways to connect.

A complete campaign package, with assets for what comes next.

The final delivery included six edits—the main film, 30-second cut, and 12-second cut in horizontal and vertical formats—plus edited photography beyond the originally agreed quantity, all raw footage, and all raw photos. We also assisted with the handoff of the RED camera footage. The campaign is running as digital advertising on Meta and Google and is also featured on Praesidus’s watch collection page.

After the shoot, Kate wrote: “You put together a great team and coordinated an amazing shoot.” Her first-cut feedback specifically praised the rain sequence and final lookout sequence while identifying areas to refine in the edit. Later, she thanked the team for its work, flexibility, and care; on October 21 she confirmed that no final changes were needed.
